At Citychurch, ministering in the power of the Spirit is one of our most important values and activities.

At the end of every service, we make time for our trained ministry team to pray for you. Why is ministry so important to us? That requires a little theology. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. This is His manifesto:

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
(Isaiah 61 v 1-2, also Luke 4 v 16)

Jesus says that if he sets a person free they will be free indeed. This becomes a reality in people’s lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived the reality of the power of the Spirit ministering with all the gifts of the Spirit.

Jesus modeled this ministry to his disciples and then said it should continue through all those who believe in Him. The work of the Spirit has been seen throughout the history of the church and continues to bring the reality of God’s love, healing and power into people’s lives today.

So that’s why we do it. In every service. And at all times.
